Bludenz, one of five rather small cities in Vorarlberg, has a pleasant old town center with arcaded walkways - just as the not too far from from here, but bigger Feldkirch. For a break after maybe shopping (there are not too many sights around) a break is recommended at the Cafe Fritz in the equally pedestrianised, cobble-stoned Mühlgasse. There is outdoor seating, bu it is also nice to sit inside. All decor is attractive, with a touch of the old 'Wiener Kaffehaus'. The confectionery offered is not on the menu-card, so for this one goes inside to the counter to see what is on offer. I went for a Marillenstrudel (apricot pie), which had intersting spicing, but not too many fruits. For the Cappuccino I was asked: with 'Sahne' (cream) or milk. Very Austrian and unusual in Italy or Switzerland. A glass of water came with it. I saw on the menu card that at lunch-time (12-14h) they also serve warm meals. Definitely a good place for a stop in this very small historic town center, which makes for a pleasant stop en route, but which is not a travel destination in itself.
